I was reminded by a friend of mine of this picture I took a couple years ago of an Indian couple on a downtown Milwaukee street. It seemed ironic that they stood next to a USA Today newspaper vending machine — it’s great to live in a country that is accepting of all people, all religions, all walks of life. I don’t know who these two people are, but they seemed to be in a comfortable place, with a content look on their faces, like Milwaukee is a home they enjoyed and thrived in. In the wake of the recent tragedy at the Sikh temple here in Milwaukee, I decided to repost it as a reminder to people of all ethnicities and religious beliefs, the USA is a place that will allow you to be who you are. And we shouldn’t let the crazy, irrational, uneducated few have their way. It’s extremely sad and unfortunate that lives were lost. And their families have my sincere condolences.
